HELD & HEARD CO. wasn’t built because my heart never broke. It was built because it did—and I wanted no one else to feel alone in theirs.
Grief changed my life.
I lost my dad to heart failure and my brother, Charvis, to gun violence. They were not only people I loved—they were part of my foundation. My dad raised us, and Charvis was more than my brother. He was my lifelong friend, my protector, and one of the few people who knew every version of me.
After loss, the world continues moving. People return to their routines. Conversations become quieter. The calls become less frequent. But for the people grieving, love does not disappear—and neither does the weight of learning how to live without someone who helped shape who you are.
I learned that grief is not something you simply “get over.” It changes. It moves with you. Some days feel lighter, while others feel just as heavy as the beginning.
More Than Grief
And grief is not the only burden people carry quietly.
There is heartbreak. Chronic illness. Motherhood. Anxiety. Exhaustion. Life changes. The pressure to keep showing up when you do not feel like yourself. So many people are carrying things the world cannot see.
I wanted to create a place where those experiences did not have to be hidden, rushed, explained, or made smaller.
That is how HELD & HEARD CO. was born.
Not from having all the answers.
Not because healing was complete.
But from the belief that comfort matters—and that sometimes a few honest words can remind someone they are not alone.
